A soft and crispy pizza recipe similar to the famous Pizza Hut dough.

My ideal pizza has a slightly thick base and a crispy bottom (think pizza hut), and after trying out so many different recipes, this is the one that gives me the exact results I want, every single time!

I’ve been making it for over 5 years now and haven’t felt the need to look for a different recipe. It is a crowd-pleaser and also super easy to make.

How to make Pizza Hut-Style Pizza at home?
  1. Add all the ingredients for the dough into the bowl of a stand mixer and knead for 5-8 minutes until you get a soft and smooth dough.
  2. If you do not have a stand mixer, you can knead the dough with your hands for about 10 minutes as well.
Note: If you are using active dry yeast, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar, and let sit until it blooms (about 3-5 minutes).
Tip: You can use up to 1 cup of extra flour, but use as little as possible.
  3. Once the dough has become smooth and soft, cover with a towel and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare 3 9” cake pans by pouring 2-3 TBSP of oil in the bottom of each one.
  5. Separate your dough into 3 equal parts and roll them out to fit in your pans. Place the rolled-out pizzas into the pans and use your fingers to place indents into the dough.
  6. Place your toppings onto the pizza in this order: sauce, cheese, toppings (onions, peppers, mushrooms, meat, etc.).
Tip: I leave my vegetables raw. If you do the same, make sure to season with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of oil on top.
  7. Let the pizzas rest for 30-45 minutes until they look to have doubled in size.
Tip: At this point, you can freeze the pizzas to be baked at another time. Simply take them out and let them thaw for about 30 minutes before you intend to bake them.
  8. Bake in a 200 degrees Celsius preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust looks golden brown and crispy.
Tip: I like to add a bit more cheese on top during the final minute so it is just melted (ideal for that cheese pull effect!).
