A dark, rich, and creamy, decadent dessert that is guilt-free and so easy to make.

What if I told you that you could enjoy an amazing chocolate mousse, but without any of the calories or guilt? What if I told you that you could make this amazing chocolate mousse in less than 15 minutes and there’s no cooking, whipping, or chilling involved? Doesn’t that sound too good to be true?

You guys, if you were ever looking for a decadent dessert that was guilt-free, it doesn’t get any better than this! This avocado chocolate mousse is dark, rich, creamy, and delicious.

And the best part is that it doesn’t taste like avocado at all, so you don’t have to worry about it tasting “healthy”. Trust me, unless someone saw you cut up the avocado and add it in, they wouldn’t be able to guess it wasn’t a normal chocolate mousse. In fact, several people who did try it couldn’t guess that it had avocado at all!

This super easy avocado chocolate mousse comes together in absolutely no time at all. It took me longer to take a satisfactory picture than it did to whip this dessert up, but you know, those are the kinds of problems that food bloggers have to deal with.

You can eat it immediately or allow it to chill in the fridge for a few minutes. I recommend chilling as it allows the flavours to mingle and the mousse to thicken slightly – plus, a slightly chilled mousse makes for a better eating experience.

What are the ingredients needed to make Avocado Chocolate Mousse?
  • 1 large avocado (around 150g when skin and pit is removed),
  • 60g dark chocolate, melted and cooled slightly,
  • Heaping 1/8 cup (22g) cocoa powder,
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla essence,
  • Heaping 1/4 cup (30g) brown sugar,
  • Pinch of salt,
  • 1-2 tbsp milk of choice, if needed

If you don’t want to use brown sugar, you can use any other sweetener that you want. Taste and adjust as you go so you get a result that suits your palette best.

How to make Homemade Avocado Chocolate Mousse?

This recipe is more of a list of ingredients than anything else. All you have to do is add everything into a blender and blitz until smooth. Hold the milk back initially, and only add it in once the other ingredeints have been combined, and that too, only if it is needed. Depending on what sweetener you use, you may not need it.

This recipe makes 2 cups of chocolate mousse, so feel free to scale it as much as needed, depending on how many people you are looking to serve. I tried it after it sat in the fridge for a day, and it was still as good as new. But, I recommend making it fresh, and not storing it for more than a day or two.

So, let’s get on with the recipe.
